PROPOSALS

We want the redeveloped East West Centre to be an important new shopping destination that will breathe
new life into Stoke-on-Trent City Centre and tempt shoppers back from cities such as Manchester and Birmingham.

Our proposals include:

  • a wide range of new shops
  • new cafés and restaurants
  • vibrant public spaces
  • a multi-screen cinema complex
  • an hotel
  • modern bus facilities
  • better parking

By rejuvenating the City Centre, the scheme will help to secure a successful future for the whole Stoke area and bring
with it additional investment, a stronger local economy and thousands of new jobs.

Our initial plans for the redevelopment of the East West Centre were presented at a public exhibition in June 2008.

Since then we have been continuing to review and develop our proposals and, in conjunction with feedback received,

made various enhancements to the scheme.

We submitted an outline planning application to Stoke-on-Trent City Council in October 2008 and held a second
public exhibition to showcase our updated proposals. Just under 500 people attended this exhibition.

Stroke-on-Trent Council granted outline planning consent for the project in February 2009. It is anticipated that construction will commence in 2010 and the scheme could be completed during 2013. This timing, however, is dependent on a number of factors, some of which are outside our control and might therefore be subject to change.
